Charity raises funds through clever interactive digital posters

The current recession is having a hugly negative effect on charitable organisations with many charities having to devise new and innovative ways to raise much needed funds. One such charity are MicroLoan Foundation who are a UK based charity that provide loans and training to female entrepreneurs in Africa. Like most other charities Microloan rely heavily on donations from the public in order to fund their goals. As part of a fund raising initiative, MicroLoan devised an interactive digital poster campaign which invited passers-by to complete unfinished portraits of African women which were made of pennies, by texting a donation along with their name to a number advertised onscreen. Their SMS activated an animation sequence, and the donation dropped into place as an animated shower of coins, adding to the portrait until it was complete. The donor’s name also appeared on the screen with a personal ‘thank you’ message.
