According to a new report into media usage from Ofcom, 70% of adults in the UK log into their social media accounts every single day.The regulator’s latest study found that 72% can’t go through a single day without accessing social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.
Not surprisingly, the report found that young adults are the most frequent visitors of social media in comparison with all internet users – this according to their usage per week. Researchers found that 16-24 year olds spend 22.3 hours on social media every week, while 25-34 year olds spend 20.1 hours accessing their accounts. The total for all adults was 16.8 hours.
The report also found that there are particular times and locations when its best to reach certain age groups. For example, it was found that 16-24 year olds have a higher volume of social media use at home when compared with 25-34 year olds (13.5 hours vs. 10.9 hours), although this age group had a higher volume of use in the workplace (5.7 hours vs. 4.1 hours).
