Innovative billboard delivers fresh water to thirsty residents.

In most cities around the world, billboards are usually seen (no pun intended) as part of the commercial infrastructure and that their sole purpose in life is to sell us something or to convince us that brand X is better than brand Y. Challenging this perception is a university in Lima, Peru who have developed a billboard which creates fresh drinking water for thirsty residents of a local village. As part of a recruitment campaign to attract students to apply to the university for 2013 enrolment, UTEC – the university of engineering & technology in Lima, used its engineering skills to manufacture a billboard that produces fresh drinking water by extracting water from air which passes through it and then condensing it, cooling it and storing it for usage / drinking.
